Construction Design Management is a two-hour Internet workshop showing participants practical ways to apply UNIFORMAT II to any type of building construction project. This two-hour online course, delivered over the Internet, introduces the use of the ASTM UNIFORMAT II E1557 standard for construction design management. It addresses elemental design specifications, preliminary project descriptions (PPDs) and estimates as well as other applications such as programming and facilities management. Course OverviewThis Construction Design Management course is of interest to owners, designers, specifications writers, estimators, project managers, design-build teams, facilitiy managers, and educators. The course's approach to design project management makes it possible to effectively introduce value engineering, life cycle costing and energy analysis at the schematic/concept phase to maximize the value of a project and further inter-disciplinary communications and coordination. Course DocumentationDocumentation for the Construction Design Management course is delivered electronically by means of downloadable files. It includes a course manual with all slides, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) publication 6389 - "UNIFORMAT II Elemental Classification for Building Specifications, Cost Estimating and Cost Analysis" which was co-authored by Robert Charette, PE, the course leader. RegistrationWe have replaced this construction design management workshop with the UNIFORMAT II Elemental Spreadsheet, which includes one hour of expert one-on-one training by Anthony Huxley.
